I'll keep this short
Well Matt didnt let me down. He proposed a Balanced budget at the council meeting. Along with that, he gave the biggest bunch of fluff shit explaining how the budget helps everyone and supports everyone.
He implied the services the city workers provide is top notch. And as a resident you have to pay for those services.
He explained what each department does and was basically trying to justify the tax increase the whole time. It was really just a sad attempt to say I am raising your taxes and I am going to continue to for years to come.
He claims he spoke to allentonians about what a tax increase would do to them. Yet didnt elaborate how they responded. But he made it seem like they didnt mind. Oh Im sure Allentonians said "yea Mayor we support this."
Quit fluffing everyones ass. Just be straight up and say I overspend and keep people that we don't need here, and I gave all my department heads way too much increases in their salaries. Especially the legal department. That is why I need to raise taxes. Then hope everyone buys it.
He bragged about how great his budget team was in raising taxes. I can only imagine that pep talk. Guys we need to hide as much money as we can. Give me something that won't show how much financial trouble the city is in. And we cant tip our hand that there will be another tax increase next year.
In 2026 the city will float a 40million dollar bond to fund the new not needed police station, so guess what? Your taxes are going up again in 2027. Then.....
PLEASE NOTE FINANCE DIRECTOR PATEL STATED IN HER FIVE YEAR PLAN. THE CITY IS LOOKING AT A MINIMUM OF A 4% TAX INCREASE EACH YEAR.
And your trash will continue to go up for the next 3 years.
