Here is the article:
ALLENTOWN, Pa. — City Council member and state House candidate Ce-Ce Gerlach is publicly addressing the 2021 child endangerment charges that surfaced weeks before Allentown’s mayoral primary.
In an interview with independent journalist Ben Stemrich, Gerlach said she is finally able to speak openly about what she described as a painful and misunderstood episode tied to her work as a homeless outreach caseworker.
“For years, I couldn’t speak openly about what really happened,” Gerlach said. “This experience was never just about me, but about a system that is broken.”
Gerlach was charged in June 2021 after taking a 16-year-old runaway to a homeless encampment known as Tent City. The teen later reported witnessing violence and being solicited for sex. Prosecutors said Gerlach, a mandated reporter, failed to notify police or child welfare services in a timely manner.
“The investigation revealed that Gerlach failed to contact either the Allentown Police Department or Lehigh County Children and Youth and instead took him to the homeless encampment,” then-District Attorney Jim Martin said after the charges were filed.
At a hearing the following year, prosecutors withdrew the charge of endangering the welfare of a child,  imagine that, charges being withdrawn and Gerlach entered Lehigh County’s accelerated rehabilitative disposition program — or ARD — on a lesser misdemeanor for failure to report. The program, often used for first-time offenders, allowed her to avoid a criminal conviction and eventually clear her record upon completion.
Gerlach emphasized that she followed the procedures she was trained to use at the time and said her supervisor made the same decision with another client the following day.
“There were no good solutions,” she said. WHAT!!!“The decision I made isn’t an indictment on my judgment — it’s an indictment on a broken system that put me and that young man in an impossible situation.”
Its not an indictment on my judgment?  How isnt it?  Lets blame the system.  YOU SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED NEAR CHILDREN.
Gerlach said she took the ARD deal only after exhausting her savings on legal costs.
No one cares CeCe
“I ran out of money,” she said. “I wanted to fight because I knew I would be found not guilty, but I couldn’t afford to keep going.” Gerlach said she is relieved that the teen, now an adult, seems to be doing well.
Seems to be doing well? You mean he is screwed up.          “I am not a monster,” she said. “All I’ve ever tried to do is help people who are navigating broken systems. I want to use this experience to fix the policies that failed us both.”
Not a monster, okay maybe not.  An irresponsible, no common sense, narcissist would be more accurate.
Gerlach’s 2021 arrest came a month before the Democratic mayoral primary, where she was a candidate. She has since continued serving on City Council and is now running for the 22nd District seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.
She should have been kicked off the ballot and banned from city council.            She said she hopes being able to tell her story directly will allow voters to move past the rumors and focus on her record.
What rumors? You literally just stated what you did. You were wrong and blamed the system.  But doesnt the system work for you when you want to help your special interest groups?  This wasnt like a DUI or something. You left a child to be solicited for Sex!! This is inexcusable.
“If people have questions, they can call me or email me,” Gerlach said. “I’m ready to have conversations — finally.” CeCe im sorry I admire your passion to help the lower class, but you messed up.  Why bring this back up??

Apparently she didn’t understand the term mandated reporter. This has been her all along. She holds people to a standard she wont meet herself. Remember when she demanded the person who left the noose be fired and arrested, only to learn it was her friend Latarsha? She got quiet on that topic very quick. And now she is trying to pawn this responsibility on “the system.” Can you imagine voting for someone who is already passing the buck on being accountable? If a cop had done this she wouldn’t rest until he was fired. She is a walking double standard. Laws for thee, not for me.
ReplyDeleteCece for mayor!! Still better than this mayor
